Gamers First
We believe that the players, the actual people playing the game come first above all. If we didn't care about having fun with others, we would play nothing except single-player games and wouldn't want a community at all. This means we understand that people have real lives, that friendship, fun, understanding, acceptance, and helpfulness will always be placed before the games themselves.
We believe in growing together, learning from one another, and making sure we all benefit from the same things.
Quality & Fairness
We strive to have a community of the highest quality. This means we want members who represent our beliefs and who also encourage others to do the same, whether they are a part of our community or not. That is to say, we aim to weed out toxic behavior. If you see someone that is doing poorly in a game, do not just dog them out, try actually being useful. Point out exactly what it is that they're doing poorly with, and offer them advice on how to do better. Make sure they understand you are trying to help them, not talk trash about them or make them feel badly. Keep in mind that we all have bad days, and bad games, the person that you're getting upset with very well could have been you at another time.
Embrace Yourself
We encourage not only ourselves, but others to be who they truly are. Sure, you're behind a keyboard, so technically you be whoever you want to be. But, you're awesome, so why wouldn't you want to be yourself? Your inner geek, your inner nerd, your inner gamer, your inner Otaku, your inner weaboo, your inner whatever you have in you, embrace it! No one will hate you for who you are here. You like Star Wars or Star Trek? Awesome! You like anime and manga? Sweet! You like little Japanese girls getting wrecked by squids while their dog saves the universe? Well, that's a unique set of tastes, but cool! Just be yourself, don't be afraid to be who you are because of others. Embrace yourself, and we'll embrace who you are as well.
Be Heard
We encourage you to speak your mind. While we do have staff that will make most of the decisions for the community, we take your thoughts and feelings to heart. If you don't tell us how you feel, or what your opinion of something is, we can't take them into consideration. If you do not speak your mind, then we will be making the decisions based solely on our own thoughts and feelings, and that is something we do not want to do. We want everyone to feel like they have a say here, because you do, we are here to listen, as long as you're willing to speak.
Multiculturalism
We advocate for multiculturalism. That is to say, we believe in people of all aspects and regions of life coming together, and playing together, in harmony and unity. So much so that should the community grow as we hope it will, we intend on branching out into other regions and cultures. We will have staff for those regions so that we can communicate and work together fluidly. This means no discrimination. Just because we do not understand what someone is saying, does mean we should attack them. For instance, if you get into a game without someone and you notice they are speaking Spanish, do not attack them for not speaking English, simply say "No habla Ingles?" which is asking them do they not speak English. While we do maintain that our community is first and foremost an English speaking one, we are tolerant of other languages and cultures and respect them.
Lead As You Follow
Leaders are teachers, they teach others how to behave and act. Leading by example is quite literally the best way to be a leader. If you desire others to act a certain way, show them how to act that way. Show others the rules work by following the rules you implement. If we lead by example, we can ensure that the people we draw to the community will be the type of people we desire to have here, people that uphold our mission statement, who share our beliefs, and who will also lead by example. Mockery is the greatest form of flattery, so make sure when others do as you do, you can be flattered by it, not insulted, embarrassed, or ashamed.
To The Future From The Past
Look to the future and learn from the past. We aim to grow and learn, together. This is possibly the most important part of our mission statement and one we hope to instill in every single member as well as those we encounter who do not join us. We all make mistakes, and we know it whether we want to admit it or not, we're only human. The important part is what we do with the mistakes we've made. If we do not learn from our mistakes and apply what we've learned to our lives, then the future will be more than cloudy. We also have to strive to share what we've learned from our mistakes, this way we can all have one big shared history book that we can look to and hopefully make the future a clear and bright one for us all.
